above listed item is from the Ptolemaic Period,(332-30 B.C.E.). This
unique piece was made from stone composite.
We acquired this lovely item from a select private collection and its
provenance is from Alexandria, Egypt. Depicted is a kneeling Anubis
with his head tilted upwards looking off to the left horizon. The base
has concentric cricle designs in stylistic Isis Tyet knots. This type
of sculpture would have been found in a mortuary temple or tomb. This
rare relic has an ear and his arms are
fragmented, yet this does not deter from this incredible piece! The
reason for the item being available is due to the vast extent of archeological
findings, thousands of years in Egyptian burials and also the proliferation
of these said items in older private collections worldwide.
